BiMUG e-mail distribution list

The BiMUG e-mail distribution list is used to announce seminars. It provides an opportunity to subscribers to ask for local help in bioimaging questions. The list is not meant to replace specialist lists such as the confocal listserver. A typical question would be "I am interested in the product/technique X. Is anybody using it and can I come over and have a look?"

An e-mail distribution list receives an e-mail and automatically distributes it to all subscribers of the list. The advantage compared to a plain list of e-mail addresses is that everybody can subscribe and unsubsribe her- or himself, without the need for the organizers to add or remove people manually.

For technical reasons, the list is realized via a Yahoo!Group. Messages to the list are archived on the web site and thus searchable (see below). It is suggested that new members introduce themselves or their research group, mentioning the bioimaging techniques that they use, by sending an e-mail to the list.

By subscribing to the group you agree that your messages may be moved to a different archive if the organizers should decide to move the group to another platform.

There are two options how to subscribe:

Subscription option 1:

From your e-mail account, send an e-mail to the following address: BiMUG-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
and you are done.

Advantage: quick and easy.
Disadvantage: You cannot browse archived messages or use other Web-only features.

Subscription option 2:

Use a Yahoo! ID: Go to the Website of the Yahoo!Group and click on the "Join this group"-Button.
If you already have a Yahoo!ID (e.g. from a Yahoo e-mail address), enter the details and sign in. If not, create one by clicking on "Sign Up".
After joining, do not forget to click on "edit membership" and to enter your e-mail address to which e-mails should be sent.

Advantage: You can browse the archive and use other Web-only features.
Disadvantage: More steps to go through until you are done.

If you should experience difficulties with subscription, please let me know.
